At Beyondia International School, reading inquiry time has become an essential part of our Kinder class routine. Every day, the children engage in regular reading sessions both in the morning and afternoon. These dedicated moments provide more than just an opportunity to enjoy stories—they are a powerful tool for developing the IB Learner Profile traits in our young learners.
ビヨンディアインターナショナルスクールでは、キンダークラスの子どもたちは毎日、朝と午後に絵本を読む時間（読書探求の時間）があります。この時間は、ただのお話の時間ではなく、子どもたちの心と考える力を育てる大切な学びの時間です。
During reading inquiry time, students not only build their language and literacy skills but also strengthen their ability to think critically and reflectively. They ask questions, make predictions, and draw connections between the books they read and the world around them. For example, after reading about different types of natural events, the children were able to relate what they learned to our recent fire evacuation drill. This ability to connect literature to real-life situations is a key outcome of inquiry-based learning.
子どもたちは本を読むことで、新しいことを知ったり、自分の考えを持ったりする力を身につけています。また、本から学んだことを、日常の出来事とつなげることもできるようになってきました。たとえば、最近の火事の避難訓練のときには、本で読んだ自然災害の話と結びつけて考える子もいました。
We’ve observed that reading has inspired the children to explore new ideas and express their thoughts with growing confidence. Their curiosity is sparked by the characters and events in the stories, and they are increasingly showing traits such as being knowledgeable, open-minded, and caring. Through discussions about the stories, they learn to listen to others’ perspectives and express their own ideas in respectful ways.
お話に出てくるキャラクターや出来事は、子どもたちの好奇心を刺激し、「知りたい」「もっと学びたい」という気持ちを育ててくれます。読書の時間を通して、思いやりの気持ちや、他の人の意見を聞く姿勢も少しずつ身についてきています。
Reading inquiry time is more than just story time—it’s a meaningful part of our curriculum that supports the holistic development of each child. It lays a strong foundation for a lifelong love of learning and helps nurture compassionate, thoughtful individuals who are eager to understand the world.
読書探求の時間は、子どもたちの成長を支える大切な時間です。これからも、たくさんの本を通して学び、世界を広げていく子どもたちの姿が楽しみです。
