Our K2/3 class visited the Kashiwa City Recycling Center as part of our learning about how we can care for our environment. The children explored how recyclable materials are sorted, and prepared for reuse. They showed great curiosity while observing the staff and machines working to support sustainable practices in our community.

K2/3クラスは、環境を大切にする方法についての学びの一環として、柏市リサイクルセンターを訪れました。子どもたちは、リサイクル資源がどのように分別され、再利用のために準備されるのかを見学しました。地域の持続可能な取り組みを支えるスタッフの方々や機械の働きを見ながら、子どもたちは大きな興味と好奇心を示していました。

Discovering How Recycling Works/リサイクルのしくみを発見しよう

Once we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly staff member, and our tour got underway. We were able to see firsthand how each item is processed and sorted. The children were amazed not only by the machines, but also by how carefully the staff prepared each item for reuse. Through this experience, the students deepened their understanding of how materials can be recycled and how people work together to care for our environment.

到着すると、スタッフの方が温かく迎えてくださり、見学ツアーが始まりました。子どもたちは、回収されたゴミがどのように分別され、処理されているのかを実際に見ることができました。また、大きな機械だけでなく、スタッフの方々が一つひとつの物を再利用できるよう丁寧に準備している様子にも、とても驚いていました。この体験を通して、子どもたちは資源をリサイクルすることや、環境を守るために人々が協力していることへの理解を深めることができました。

Our Fun Recycling Sorting Challenge/楽しいリサイクル分別チャレンジ

After the tour, the children participated in a hands-on sorting activity with the help of the staff. By “fishing” items and deciding how to sort them, the children practiced thinking skills and teamwork while learning how their choices can help protect the environment. We are grateful to the staff there for supporting this meaningful learning experience.

見学後には、リサイクルプラザの方々の協力のもと、子どもたちは分別体験のアクティビティに参加しました。「釣り」ゲームを通してアイテムを取り出し、どのように分別するかを考えながら取り組みました。この活動を通して、思考力や協力する力を育み、自分たちの行動が環境を守ることにつながることを学びました。貴重な学びの機会を提供してくださった皆さまに感謝いたします。

Old-Time Shops and New Recycled Discoveries/昔のお店と新しいリサイクルの発見

To conclude our visit, we explored how goods were stored and wrapped in shops in the past. The children compared materials used long ago with those used today, making thoughtful connections about changes over time. We also visited a shop featuring items made from recycled materials and brought some souvenirs back to school to continue our play and learning. ( They chose thing such as Japanese-style plates and trays, plastic salad bowls, and hiragana building blocks)

見学の最後には、昔のお店で商品がどのように保管・包装されていたかを見学しました。子どもたちは、昔と現在の材料の違いを比べながら、時代の変化について考える姿が見られました。また、リサイクル素材から作られた商品が並ぶショップも訪れ、スクールに持ち帰って遊びや学びに活かせるお土産を選び、実際に購入しました。（和風のお皿やトレー、プラスチックのサラダボール、ひらがな積み木など）

The visit helped the children understand how their everyday choices can support a healthier environment. Through observation, hands-on activities, and meaningful discussions, they deepened their awareness of recycling and sustainability. We look forward to continuing this learning journey back at school through play, inquiry, and everyday actions that help care for our community and planet.

今回の見学を通して、子どもたちは日々の小さな選択がより良い環境づくりにつながることを学びました。見学や体験活動、そして話し合いを通して、リサイクルや持続可能な社会についての理解を深めることができました。これからも、遊びや探究活動、そして日常の行動を通して、学校での学びを続けながら、地域や地球を大切にする気持ちを育んでいきたいと思います。
