Recently, our kinder class visited Nagareyama Central Fire Station. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn through real experiences and to see how firefighters and paramedics help our community. We traveled by train and then by bus to reach the fire station. The children were excited and did a great job staying together and listening carefully during the trip.

先日キンダークラスで流山中央消防署を見学しました。実際に体験しながら学び、消防士さんや救急隊員さんが地域のためにどのように働いているのかを見ることができた、とても良い機会になりました。消防署までは、電車に乗ってからバスに乗って行きました。子どもたちはとても楽しみにしていて、移動中もよく並び、先生の話をしっかり聞いて行動できました。

Meeting the Firefighters/消防士さんとの出会い

When we arrived, we were amazed to see the fire engines lined up and ready to go. The firefighters welcomed us warmly and showed us around the station. We also learned something new: the fire engines are not simply “red.” The colour is called vermilion (朱色 / shu-iro).

到着すると、消防車が並んでいて、子どもたちはびっくりしていました。消防士さんがあたたかく迎えてくださり、消防署の中を案内してくれました。また、消防車の色はただの「赤」ではなく、「朱色（しゅいろ）」ということも教えてもらいました。

Exploring the Ambulance/ 救急車の中を見学

We looked inside an ambulance and saw many tools and equipment used by paramedics. Some children had their pulse checked and could see their heartbeat on a screen. The children were very curious and asked many thoughtful questions.

During our visit, both ambulances received emergency calls and left quickly to help patients. The children noticed how fast the team responded and learned how important their work is.

救急車の中も見せてもらい、救急隊員さんが人を助けるために使う道具や機械をたくさん見ることができました。実際に脈をはかってもらい、画面で心臓の動きを見た子もいました。子どもたちはとても興味を持ち、たくさん質問していました。

見学中に、救急車が2台とも出動要請を受けて、すぐに出発しました。子どもたちは、すばやい対応を見て、「大切なお仕事だね」と感じることができました。

Learning About the Fire Engine/ 消防車について学びました

Next, we explored the fire engine. We guessed how many litres of water it can carry, and we were surprised to learn that the water can only last for a few minutes when spraying. The firefighters showed us the hoses and the nozzle, and the children took turns holding it. They asked about the ladder, lights, and other important parts of the fire engine. They also had a chance to feel the weight of different equipment, which was a valuable hands-on experience.

次に消防車を見学しました。消防車には何リットルの水が入るのか、みんなで予想しました。実は、放水すると水は数分でなくなってしまうことを聞いて、子どもたちはとても驚いていました。ホースや放水する先の部分（ノズル）も見せてもらい、順番に持たせてもらいました。はしごやライトなど、いろいろな部分についても質問しながら学びました。道具の重さも実際に持って確かめることができ、とても良い体験になりました。

Trying on Firefighter Gear/ 消防士さんの服を着てみました

The children enjoyed trying on firefighter hats and coats. Some children also sat in the driver’s seat of the fire engine and imagined what it would be like to help people as a firefighter.

消防士さんの帽子や上着も着せてもらいました。消防車の運転席に座らせてもらった子もいて、消防士さんになった気分を味わっていました。

What We Learned/ 今回の見学で学んだこと

This visit helped the children build their understanding of community helpers and safety. They listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their ideas with others. We are very thankful to the firefighters at Nagareyama Central Fire Station for welcoming us and teaching us so much.

今回の見学を通して、子どもたちは地域の人を助ける仕事や安全について理解を深めました。よく話を聞き、たくさん質問し、自分の気づきを言葉で伝えることもできました。流山中央消防署の皆さま、あたたかく迎えてくださり、本当にありがとうございました。
