Introduction -はじめに-

Recently, members of the Kashiwanoha staff were invited for a tour of Rugby School Japan. It was set up in hopes of arranging a day for our Beyondia families and the wider local community to get an exclusive look inside the school and see what enrollment may mean for their children. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Rugby School Japan for kindly welcoming us and taking the time to give us such a thorough and thoughtful tour. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your school and experience its unique atmosphere firsthand.

先日、私たちBeyondia International School Kashiwanohaの職員が、Rugby School Japanを訪問しました。今回の訪問は、将来的にBeyondiaや地域のご家庭を対象としたスクールツアーの開催を見据えた下見として実施したものです。Rugby School Japanの先生方には、温かく迎えていただき、丁寧に時間をかけて校内を案内していただきました。心より感謝申し上げます。実際にキャンパスを歩きながら、同校が大切にしている教育の雰囲気を肌で感じることができ、私たちにとっても非常に貴重な経験となりました。

Philosophy and Setting -教育理念と環境-

The school is a British day and boarding school for children between the ages of 11 and 18 and was opened in 2023. It is located about a five-minute walk away from Kashiwanoha Campus Station. Its curriculum and ethos are based on the philosophy of “The Whole Person, The Whole Point”, an outlook on education that is very similar to ours.

Rugby Schoolは、2023年に開校した11歳から18歳までの子どもたちを対象としたインターナショナル・ボーディングスクールです。柏の葉キャンパス駅から徒歩5分という便利な立地にあり、通学にも寮生活にも適した環境が整っています。教育理念の核となっているのは「The Whole Person, The Whole Point」という考え方であり、これは私たちBeyondiaの教育方針とも深く通じるものでした。

Boarding Life and Community-ボーディングライフと学校のつながり-

The tour began with a look at the boarding houses. The school hosts six separate boarding houses for both the day students and the boarding students to use. Inside were large common areas for relaxing, socializing, eating, and, most importantly, doing homework together with teachers and their classmates. They also had bedrooms for sleeping and studying in which is used by both boarding and the day students to make sure that there is a strong sense of community for the entire school.

見学は寮エリアから始まりました。校内には6つの寮があり、通学生も寮生も利用できる設計になっています。寮内にはリラックスしたり、食事や会話を楽しんだり、そして何より先生やクラスメートと一緒に宿題に取り組める共用スペースが設けられており、日々の生活の中で自然と学びが生まれる環境になっていました。個室も完備されており、静かに勉強したり休んだりする時間も確保されています。通学生もこの寮を利用することで、寮生との垣根なく学校全体としてのコミュニティが形成されている点がとても印象的でした。

Academic Environment -充実した学びの場-

After that, we were shown around some of the classrooms. The school boasts an impressive selection of subjects, each being given ample space and resources. Physics, Biology, and Chemistry each had several classrooms and laboratories. There were large and expressive art rooms for their students to be creative in. Classrooms to teach Design and Technology displayed working clocks made by the students. These were just a few of the classes we were shown that show off how dedicated the school is to giving their students a wide range of things to learn.

次に案内していただいたのは教室エリアです。Rugby School Japan には幅広い教科が用意 されており、それぞれの教室に十分なスペースと専門設備が整えられていました。物理・ 生物・化学には専用の実験室が複数設けられ、本格的な探究活動が日常的に行われている ことが伺えました。美術室は広く、生徒が自由に創造性を発揮できるよう配慮されてお り、デザイン＆テクノロジーの教室では、生徒が制作した実際に動く時計が展示されてい て、探究と創造が自然につながっていることに感動しました。こうした学びの空間から は、生徒に多様な経験と学びを提供しようとする学校の思いがしっかりと伝わってきまし た。 

Campus Facilities -施設紹介-

The facilities in the school are incredibly impressive. They include multiple music rooms to play in with a group or solo, a huge hall with equipment for many different sports, a fully-equipped gym, a debate chamber modeled after the British House of Commons in London, a library to study in or just enjoy a good book, and a dining hall reminiscent of Hogwarts are just a few things that really made the school stand out.

同校の施設は本当に見応えがありました。個人でもグループでも使用できる音楽室、さま ざまなスポーツに対応した広い体育館、トレーニング機器のそろったジムなど、生徒たち の活動を幅広く支える設備が充実しています。中でも特に印象的だったのは、ロンドンの 英国下院を模したディベートルーム、落ち着いて学習や読書ができる図書館、そしてまる で映画の世界に入り込んだかのようなホグワーツ風の食堂です。学校全体に「学ぶ楽し さ」と「日常の特別さ」を感じさせる工夫が散りばめられていました。 

Looking Ahead -スクールツアーに向けて-

The teachers were blown away with what the school had to offer and we would love for both our Beyondia families and members of the wider community to see what Rugby School Japan is all about. We are in talks with the school to find a date that would be perfect to offer the tour. We will keep you all informed of the process and we look forward to having you experience the school for yourselves.
